The Role

Our requirement is for a Mechanical Design Engineer conversant with Australian Standards, having at least 4 – 7 years experience in Advanced Analysis FEA/ ANSYS applications.

The purpose of this role is to undertake design development and verification for mechanical engineering and structural projects using specific analysis software.

SOTO requires a qualified Engineer who is motivated, high-performing and capable of operating with an appropriate level of autonomy and work collaboratively on a variety of projects.

The Responsibilities

Comply with all relevant Australian Standards and guidelines that impact design validity and compliance.

Ensure all design analyses are completed using industry best practice and appropriate codes and client standards.

The Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s degree considered a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), non-linear structural mechanics, mechanics of materials, dynamics and fatigue
  • Experience with ANSYS Mechanical, Strand7 or other commercial FEA software
  • Solid theoretical background in structural mechanics and numerical methods backed up by practical design experience
  • Design engineering experience with robust capability in 3D modelling
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to be highly productive while working autonomously and as part of a team
  • Knowledge and understanding of Australian and International Design Codes.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Proficient in technical report writing.

Ideally, you will have:

  • 4 – 7 years experience in a consulting engineering environment
  • Documented industry experience with Analysis FEA/ ANSYS Mechanical (Workbench)
  • Demonstrated expertise in fluid mechanics, thermal dynamics and CFD.
  • The ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and a real team player.
  • Demonstrated skills in writing and presenting in fluent English.
