Established for 20 years, SOTO Consulting Engineers is a privately owned, mid-tier engineering consultancy located near Wollongong. Our requirement is for a talented Bulk Materials Handling Engineer to join our team.

SOTO is currently experiencing an increasing demand as a result of providing excellent design solutions in the quarry, agribusiness, cement, mining and steel industries. Our growth has created an opportunity for a Bulk Materials Handling / Mechanical Engineer within our advance analysis team located in our Wollongong Office.

This is an opportunity to join a high-performance and established team of engineers and designers that provide bulk materials handling solutions, conveyor engineering, bin & silo engineering, investigations and analysis of transfer chutes to a range of industries.

The Role

Requires an experienced Bulk Materials Handling / Mechanical Engineer who is motivated, high-performing and capable of operating with an appropriate level of autonomy to work with agility on a variety of projects.

Skills & Qualifications required include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Masters or PhD in Materials handling.
  • Qualifications recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with our external clients technically.
  • Ability to self-manage work tasks, on schedule and budget within an engineering consultancy environment.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, and demonstrated knowledge of the following:
  • Engineering design and practical engineering experience
  • Site experience associated with the commissioning and operation of bulk materials handling plant including belt conveyors, storage bins and silos.
  • Conveyor design using recognised design software Sidewinder,
  • Discrete Element Modelling (DEM) particle flow simulation program – Rocky.
  • 3D modelling software Inventor, Solidworks and Rhino
